Deschênes Park Alliance is pleased to invite you to its Annual General Meeting 2025!

Where: Belmont Community Centre, 26 Belmont, Aylmer sector 
When: Thursday March 20, 2025, at 19h00
Time: The general meeting will start at 19h00 and will wrap up around 20h00. It will be
followed by Wine and cheese tasting allowing to mingle and discuss and to visit the Alliance
kiosk on site.
Presentation: In addition to the regular report on administration and activities of the Alliance, there will be a presentation by Howard Powles about the 100 years of history of Deschênes area.

Alliance Park Deschênes is planning an activity in the Deschênes forest on the identification of trees before the spring bud burst. We will take time to observe bark, buds and twigs to identify the different tree species. We will meet up on Sunday, March 2 at 10:00 am at the south end of Vanier road on the bike path next to the Ottawa river. Looking forward to seeing you there!

To get 2025 off to a good start, we are organizing a joint family activity with the Friends of Gatineau Park to discover together what animals are active in winter in and around the Deschênes forest. Looking forward to seeing you there. Dress warmly for this activity.

Help the Alliance protect nature for the community. The 2025 calendars are now on sale. You can order yours by sending an email to parcdeschenespark@gmail.com  

The calendars cost 28$. 

Agence Bassin Versant des 7, another non-profit organisation involved in shoreline protection and wetland conservation , will be joining the Alliance for this activity. All necessary equipment to be provided.

Alliance Parc Deschênes has once again planned a mycological excursion led by the members of the Mycologues amateurs de l'Outaouais. All are welcome. You can bring a small basket or a bag to collect mushrooms. After we finish collecting the mushrooms , they will be identified by the experts! An activity not to be missed!

You are invited to the annual  Deschênes forest festival! In 2020, the efforts to prevent the Deschênes forest from being developed by the city of Gatineau were successful. Since then the Alliance Parc Deschênes has continued its mission to conserve and protect the natural area between Fraser Street and the Deschênes Rapids. This year, the festival will be held on Sunday, September 22 from 9:30 am to noon. We will meet across from 100 Fraser Street. Come celebrate with us! You can also enjoy a guided walk in the Deschênes forest. If the weather forces us to cancel the festival, it will be rescheduled for September 29 at the same time. 

This discovery walk is open to everyone and will help you get to know the Deschênes forest better. We'll talk about its biodiversity, history and geographical aspects. Together, we'll discover the forest's emblematic species. Looking forward to seeing you there!

Meeting point: across from 100 Chemin Fraser – Gatineau - Aylmer

Alliance Park Deschênes is planning a herpetology outing. Parc Deschênes has a diversity of habitats in close proximity which support a variety of reptile and amphibian species. This tour will focus on how the many species who live around the park make use of those habitats.This is a bilingual event in partnership with Ottawa Field Naturalists Club, the oldest natural history club in Canada. Please wear appropriate footwear and clothing as it may be muddy and buggy. 

When: Saturday, June 22, 2024 at 8 am

Meeting: at the south end of Fraser Street across from 100 Fraser Street

Alliance Parc Deschênes is planning a spring excursion in the Deschênes forest. We will look for the first flowers of the season. We will also take time to identify trees with their first leaves, flowers, spring buds and bark. We will meet up on Sunday, May 26 at 10:00 am at Fraser Street across from 148. Looking forward to seeing you there!
